16. The Power of Patience – With Corey Muldoon

The Power of Patience - Corey

Corey’s tattoo story is one of patience and is unusual in today’s fast paced regret filled tattoo culture. He completed two full sleeves in 18 months – after sitting with his idea for over 10 years.

Mirroring this in a way, I have finally decided (with Corey’s permission) to upload some healed photos of his tattoos to my portfolio. It has been over 2 years since I have put any photos online and I won’t be making a habit of it.

The Transformational Journey of Corey’s Tattoos

Corey started his tattooing journey two years ago with Mark. His process primarily focused on the importance of tattoos and their significance in people’s lives rather than the artwork itself. His views synchronised with Mark’s perspective that emphasises a process-oriented approach. The journey that Corey took was nothing short of transformational. This journey played out through meaningful and insightful conversations shared during their tattoo sessions, offering valuable insights, tools, and understanding in regard to getting tattoos.

Finding the Right Artist and the Importance of Trust

Corey explains the importance of finding the right tattoo artist and the vital role of trust in this process. He talks about the necessity of ensuring that the artist has a deep understanding of their client’s desired outcome for the tattoo. This realization enables the artist to bring the client’s design vision into reality, making the tattoo experience more personalized and meaningful. Corey credits this trustful relationship to the success of his tattoo journey, leading to a remarkable result that truly represented his personal journey and story.

Taking Time and having patience Before Making the Decision

Taking the time to find the right tattoo artist, properly plan out the design, and budget the cost are fundamental aspects to consider. Corey advises taking as much time as necessary to ensure everything aligns properly. This includes being financially prepared without having the cost of the tattoo impose strain on your daily life. This can require patience! The tattoos themselves are not only an investment but also a lifetime commitment, and therefore should never be a rushed decision. Corey’s methodical and meticulous approach to this process helped make his experience smooth and enjoyable, giving no room for regret or financial stress.

The Deeper Meaning Behind Tattoos

The discussion further dives into the deeper meanings of tattoos and how they bear significance in the life of the wearer. The tattoos on Corey’s arms represent the balance between masculine and feminine energies, symbolizing different energetic forces at play within the body. Corey sees his tattoos as a perfect representation of where he was and where he is now. The tattoos serve as a potent reminder of his life experiences and personal journey.

Conclusion

The essence of this insightful conversation is to emphasise that every tattoo has a story and a purpose. Taking time, having patience, involving trust, and having a mindful approach craftsmen the journey of creating a meaningful and deeply personal piece of art. If designed right, a tattoo doesn’t merely adorn the body – it narrates one’s life, symbolising the journey, experiences, and transformations they’ve been through. Just like Corey’s tattoo journey, the process is transformative and unique to each individual, making each tattoo a unique symbol of their life story.
